Green energy arrives to Montaña Azul

The photovoltaic park is the result of the green strategy implemented and the resources allocation for different environmental actions taking place at the Sarapiquí facilities.

Along with the water resource management and the organic waste management strategies at the food processing facilities, now Montaña Azul is glad to incorporate the operation of a photovoltaic energy production park, installed recently in 2023

In 2022 the idea of a photovoltaic energy park was proposed based on the constant efforts from the Management. The objective is finding ways to become more competitive through the use of green electric energy consomption. Using the sunhine energy when the clouds allow it will allow the family company to become more efficient and at the same time provides a risk coverage in case there is electric interrupctions during daily production shifts.

The network of more than 200 panels in the roof will create an amount of energy that can cover the needs of most production processes.

Nature wisdom:

Montaña Azul has “harmony with nature” as one of its core values, and as Victor Arias, Director of the Project confirms : ” we know that the power of the sunlight must be part of the all companies in Costa Rica, the sunlight energy must be included in every production process as it does in the agriculture production too. We are one with nature and the sunlight we have in Costa Rica makes possible that we can grow any tropical crop. Now it makes possible, as well, a more independant and cleaner production.”

Montaña Azul will also continue using the local energy provider as well and for the next years to come will try to include them also in these kind of projects.

Celebrating the premium Selection brand : a succesful story from Montaña Azul and Automercado Costa Rica

On a beautiful videoclip the Premium Supermarket chain Automercado Costa Rica, recognizes the relationship with Montaña Azul through the years, describing it as one of the first collaborations established to their beloved brand “Seleccion Auto”.

Along with the amazing views of the Montaña Azul facilities and environment, the green of the plantations and blue of the mountains of Braulio Carrio National Park ( from where the company takes the Montaña Azul blue mountain name), the Director Pahola Arias describes some details about the evolution of the story between both companies and inside information about the collaboration within the Costa Rica retail market.

The Director explained about the environmentally friendly farming, where the regeneration of each Bactris Gasipaes tree allows the constant harvesting of the palm trees. Montaña Azul is an economical engine for the district of Horquetas de Sarapiquí, where over 100 families are involved in the production of frozen and canned foods.

The Supermarket Automercado celebrates with this video the relationship with Montaña Azul and we understand this video as a little tribute to the work of nature itself, the team of commited collaborators, hardworking providers, who have constantly through the years achieved to create this Premium Brand “Selección Auto”.

Montaña Azul in USA Show: Spaghetti Noodles at the NAT WEST California 2023

We never forget our first time! 😉

We prepare the first time at the show Natural Products Expo West in California. Our Booth is going to be at the Costa Rica Pavillion. Montaña Azul team is excited because this show gathers consumers, premium on ensuring their health and wellbeing while others increasingly looking toward social responsibility and sustainability. They are all our values so we are a natural match for these crowd.

This is an experience we looked forward participating; it allows us to network, see new products, and explore new ideas. Our COO Pamela Arias will be atending the show to meet with our friends, as commented by Mrs Arias ” This show is a great stage for our organic pineapple and spaghetti noodles, since they are trends. Also we brought cassava gluten-free burgers, banana leaves frozen and our canned cassava for the ethnic distributors”

Chilerita de palmito – palm pickles innovation for the holidays

This is a traditional latinamerican product that combines the pickles and hot sauce with the palm hearts and spicy recipe.

Is true that palmito or heart of palm, is consumed on its purest form: cilindrical white steams; however the proposal to have this salad bar chunks into the spicy sauce is more than welcome by the population.

La Chilera by Montaña Azul has hit the shelves of Walmart major retail sales points this Christmas, as a little interesting gift for the families to share on the holidays and more over to re-discover a traditional product on a new presentation of 250 g drained weight and 410 g net weight.

Palm Spaguetti : rethinking food

Pineapple from Montaña Azul starts distribution in The Netherlands

February 22nd, 2021  

The Netherlans tulips today welcome the Costa Rica ananas from Montaña Azul. A long way from the canals of the tropic flatlands to the Amsterdam canals.

This beautiful fruit, will fullfil the shelves with its bright colours, canned and glass jars. Today MD2 Golden Sweet products started distribution from a local retailer.

Within Europe, Montaña Azul also exports canned pineapple to France where big pineapple projects have been executed succesfully in the past. Other pineapple markets for the Montaña Azul pineapple have been the United States supermarket chains, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico and other LatinAmerican supermarket, where we distribute also in convenience stores and supermarkets.

In what has become a challenging time for humanity, one light shines bright : the Montaña Azul brand debutes in US retailer shelves.  Seabra’s, TwinCity, SuperFresh and ExtraSupermarkets have a new delicious from Costa Rica: ready to eat cassava.

Pahola Arias, project manager for this project has declared that the effort “is a big achivement from both our company and our distributor in the New Jersey State who knows very well the brand since they are latinamericans too and use the product in their daily lives”.

New Jersey – also refered as the 8th province of Costa Rica – is known to host the biggest population of ticos outside of their country. Counties as Orange, Bound Brook and Trenton are among many of counties who look for costarican and latinamerican specialties, such as this cassava.
