This beautiful fruit, will fullfil the shelves with its bright colours, canned and glass jars. Today MD2 Golden Sweet products started distribution from a local retailer.
Within Europe, Montaña Azul also exports canned pineapple to France where big pineapple projects have been executed succesfully in the past. Other pineapple markets for the Montaña Azul pineapple have been the United States supermarket chains, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico and other LatinAmerican supermarket, where we distribute also in convenience stores and supermarkets.

Tamales are a unique Pre-Columbian dish that is believed to have originated in Mesoamerica, the land between North and South America. Mexican tamales are perhaps the best-known version, however, almost all of the Central and South American cultures have adopted the dish into their own style of cooking.
The banana leaf is the leaf of the banana plant ( we call plátano plant in Costa Rica, a variety of plaintain), which may produce up to 40 leaves in a growing cycle. The leaves have a wide range of applications because they are large, flexible, waterproof and decorative.
They are used for cooking, wrapping and food-serving in a wide range of cuisines in tropical and subtropical areas. They are used for decorative and symbolic purposes in numerous Hindu and Buddhist ceremonies. In traditional homebuilding in tropical areas, roofs and fences are made with dry banana-leaf thatch. Banana and palm leaves were historically the primary writing surfaces in many nations of South and Southeast Asia.

In what has become a challenging time for humanity, one light shines bright : the Montaña Azul brand debutes in US retailer shelves. Seabra’s, TwinCity, SuperFresh and ExtraSupermarkets have a new delicious from Costa Rica: ready to eat cassava.
Pahola Arias, project manager for this project has declared that the effort “is a big achivement from both our company and our distributor in the New Jersey State who knows very well the brand since they are latinamericans too and use the product in their daily lives”.
New Jersey – also refered as the 8th province of Costa Rica – is known to host the biggest population of ticos outside of their country. Counties as Orange, Bound Brook and Trenton are among many of counties who look for costarican and latinamerican specialties, such as this cassava.

Covid19 has surprised the world. 80 years of investment in a Health System, seams to have the virus under control.
At Montaña azul, we are adapting our talent and our daily routine. Our team has issued since week number 1, all the precautions to ensure our employees to understand the situation the best we can explain, through constant meetings and information boards, explaining the latest measures to be taken on this changing situation and passing each guideline provided by the Health Ministry of Costa Rica and World Health Organization.
We are all humbled to see our people’s coping with what it has become the most uncertain time we have lived in so far. This became a Costarrican National crusade, succesful so far.
Costa Rica Government has taken every step to keep the conditions controled. All health actions between citizens and the economy are daily communicated transparently. It is clear that this is a lifetime experience, lessons are coming and we are keeping our mind open so we can grow as company and as a team.
We are on a business continuity plan allowing the normal supply to clients, ensuring the food to consumers inside and outside Costa Rica. We shall pass and we will be stronger and wiser.
Following our Disaster Process we have achieved the identification of the most vulnerable collaborators and the division on smaller groups for lunch, we established the variables to accept anybody who feels sick to stay home and communicate with helpline 1322 covid telephone line. We follow the logic that anybody can have the virus even if we do not show any synthoms.
As per 13 of May, 2020, the Republic of Costa Rica close to 800 cases, 60% recovered. As we see the Worlds richest countries with a saturated Health Systems, our government has took steps to reduce some sectors, impacting the economy. Exports remain opened and our food sector functions as a prilivedged sector, however the challenges are still active and we are solving them on the run.
