Agroindustrial Montaña Azul  has been audited on Ethical Standards thanks to the company’s serious commitment shown in the LQSNET audit result. The norm for Ethical of Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit Report (SMETA) Best Practice Guidance (Version 6.0, April 2017).

As Pahola Arias, Director for this important audit comments ” This Audit helps to promote the responsible supply chains, focused in Labour, Environment, Anti-Corruption among others. From Costa Rica we can show our transparency to our clients and most important our deep commitment with collaborators”.

Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) is one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world.

SMETA was developed by the Sedex Associate Auditor Group (AAG), organizations involved on ethical trade auditing. The purpose of the AAG is to drive convergence in ethical trade/social auditing, based on and helping to shape best practice.

Sedex ( This means The Supplier Ethical Data Exchange ) and it is a not-for-profit membership organisation for businesses committed to the continuous improvement of ethical performance within their supply chains. Sedex was founded in 2001 by a group of UK retailers to drive convergence in social audit standards and monitoring practices. The aims of Sedex are to ease the auditing burden on suppliers through the sharing of reports and to drive improvements in supply chain standards.

Many words for a simple idea : to produce our products in a environment that ensures our collaborators to be fairly treated. There is always room to grow and Montaña Azul will keep improving!.

2015 certification FSSC 22000 : Safety and quality for food.

Agroindustrial Montaña Azul certifies FSSC 22000: A Food Safety Management System (FSMS) Certification Scheme

FSSC 22000 defines requirements for integrated processes that work together to control and minimize food safety hazards. Once a facility implements processes that address all the requirements of FSSC 22000, they can be certified to FSSC 22000.

The certification program is managed by the Foundation for Food Safety Certification: www.fssc22000.com. The FSSC System was designed to provide companies in the food industry with an ISO based FSMS certification that is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

Pahola Arias, leader for the project of certification explains: ” FSSC 22000 certification shows our clients that our commitment is not words but actions. It also allows our company to achieve our first certification from the GFSI norms. Therefore, any client looking for BRC, IFS can accept our new certification as iqual since it covers the same requirements”.

Montana Azul might win the award “Effort for Export” 2014.

Montana Azul made it to the finalists’ short list on the contest for the Award “Effort for Export”2014. 

The week of November 13 had the highlight of the year for the Production team and the Management team.  The Costa Rican Chamber of Exporters organizes every year the Award to the “Effort for Exports” among the Small and Medium companies. This award is granted to the company that best ranks in the evaluation categories at the annual contest sponsored by the Government of Costa Rica.

Under the coordination of the Chamber of Exporters, other important Institutions are represented as evaluators, depending on the subject: The Health Ministry for food safety issues or environment impact, the Science and Technology Ministry evaluating innovative processes and products, the Costa Rican Trade Promotion Institute evaluating the commercial and competitiveness and the Ministry of Economy reviewing operations and size of the company.

Pamela Arias received the evaluating team with humbleness and appreciation “…few times in the life of a Family Company like ours, we have the opportunity to thank those governmental institutions that support our operations. This is one of those times. We participate as part of the contest, but already being among the finalists, is a great honor”.

The 5 of December 2014 the awarded company will be announced during the Chamber of Exporters CADEXCO event.

Congratulations! You will taste our Cassava at the SIAL INNOVATION 2014

The Judges of the SIAL Paris Innovation 2014 have said ” très, très bon! “

We just received one of those emails  that change your year :

Congratulations, following the CGM Committee, your product has been selected by the Jury, made up of independent experts.We congratulate you on the dynamism and creativity of your company” confirmed Marine Duchene, Communications Officer from the SIAL´s organizer team.

It could not be different. Our Cassava in can, ready to eat and with our secret latinamerican-caribbean spices, was evaluated and made it to the top of the Innovation Selection 2014.  We are still running up for the Grands Prix SIAL Paris Innovation 2014, but we consider ourselves already a winning team: we are taking our flavors to 150 000 visitors of the biggest food show on the planet!.

This Selection is specially important this year since Sial Paris Food Show has its 50th edition.  Our product will be presented in the SIAL Paris Innovation 2014 Book and in the Innovation 2014

As Pahola Arias comments “Just imagine that you could make a product that puts a childhood flavor on a can and combines your family ultra-secret recipe on a classic dish from your culture… is it possible?. We have just made that happen!.”

We also add, that Montaña Azul did it, but did it splendidly well! Because SIAL  french Jury said so!

Serving more markets with Kashrut Certification

Montana Azul certifies Kosher (K) to all the products elaborated at their facilities.  More markets that can be served!

 

Victor Arias Benavides, Business Developer for Montana Azul states  ” We want to add value to our clients in every possible way.  When our client chooses our company they will be listened to in each of their needs. Our customers needs are our challenges, therefore this certification was incorporated to our products once again”.

 

Kosher certification is recognized for some consumers in various markets as a quality certification. It certifies that the processes of Montana Azul plant follows the requirements stated by the Orthodox Jewish Law.  The visit of the Rabbi I. Prober and the representative of the Israeli Center Mr. Parlato took place throughout the production process.

 

The Centro Israelita Sionista de Costa Rica, founded in 1937,  is the leading organization for the Kosher product supervision in the whole CostaRican territory.
